For our herbals, the material (plant matter, whether its roots, leaf, etc) is steeped in glycerin to extract the constituents and compounds contained in the botanicals. The process can be compared to steeping a tea bag in a cup of water. When drinking tea, you are not drinking the tea leaves, but rather what has been extracted in the menstruum (in the example of tea, menstruum is water). More tea leaves will result in stronger tea, for example: 1 teaspoon of tea per 8 oz of water will result in a weaker tea than 2 teaspoons of tea per 8 oz of water. This amount (i.e. how much tea to amount of water), is called the ratio and is similar to how our herbals are formulated. Unfortunately, for our herbals, the exact formulation is proprietary information and we are unable to share these ratios (ex: how much [X botanical] is steeped in exactly how much glycerin).
