Q: What is the content of grapefruit seed in this product?

A: While this is a proprietary blend (and thus we cannot disclose the amounts of grapefruit seed in the product), this is also just a difficult question to answer! For our herbals, the material (plant matter, whether its roots, leaf, etc) is steeped in glycerin to extract the constituents and compounds contained in the botanicals. The process can be compared to steeping a tea bag in a cup of water. When drinking tea, you are not drinking the tea leaves, but rather what has been extracted in the menstruum (in the example of tea, menstruum is water). More tea leaves will result in stronger tea, for example: 1 teaspoon of tea per 8 oz of water will result in a weaker tea than 2 teaspoons of tea per 8 oz of water. This amount (i.e. how much tea to amount of water), is called the ratio and is similar to how our herbals are formulated. Unfortunately, for our herbals, the exact formulation is proprietary information and we are unable to share these ratios (ex: how much [X botanical] is steeped in exactly how much glycerin). We’re sorry that we’re unable to answer your question at this time, but please know that our product teams are aware that this information is often requested, and we hope that we may be able to disclose ratios on our labels someday soon!
